The Association of Emeritus Lawmakers of the Enugu State House of Assembly (AELESHA) has congratulated Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah on his third anniversary in office, commending what it described as remarkable achievements across critical sectors of the state's economy and social infrastructure.
The association, which comprises former Speakers and principal officers of the Enugu State House of Assembly, conveyed its commendation during its plenary meeting held recently at the Enugu Sports Club.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Dr. Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, the body praised Governor Mbah for implementing far-reaching reforms and development projects that have transformed the state's landscape within three years of his administration.
The former lawmakers highlighted significant strides in the transportation sector, citing the establishment of Enugu Air, the construction of modern bus terminals, expansion of urban road networks, and development of gateway roads as some of the administration's landmark achievements.
They also lauded the governor's investments in education and healthcare through the ongoing construction of Smart Schools and Type-2 Primary Healthcare Hospitals across the state's 260 electoral wards.
According to the association, the projects demonstrate the administration's commitment to improving access to quality education and healthcare services at the grassroots.
AELESHA further commended the development of the New Enugu Smart City project, the reconstruction of the International Conference Centre, and the revitalisation of the long-abandoned Presidential Hotel, Enugu, describing them as strategic initiatives aimed at positioning the state as a modern economic and investment hub.
The association also acknowledged the administration's allocation of more than 33 per cent of the state's budget to education, which it said reflects a deliberate effort to build human capital and secure the future of Enugu's young population.
On industrialisation and economic development, the former lawmakers praised the commissioning of the Haier Factory, a $20 million assembly plant for the production of laptops, smartphones and related spare parts, noting that the project would contribute significantly to job creation and economic growth.
The group equally applauded the state's 042 Ride Taxi Youth Empowerment Scheme, describing it as a laudable initiative that would create sustainable employment opportunities for young people while enhancing public transportation services across the state.
AELESHA also expressed satisfaction with Governor Mbah's support for Rangers International FC, noting that the club occupies a unique place in Igbo history and identity.
The association described Rangers as more than a football club, saying it embodies the resilience, courage, ingenuity and "never-say-die" spirit of the Igbo people. It recalled the historical significance of the name "Rangers," which it said resonates with the determination and sacrifices associated with the Nigerian Civil War era.
The former lawmakers stated that they were particularly pleased that the governor had sustained the club's success story and continued to support its growth and achievements.
Reaffirming their confidence in the administration, the association wished Governor Mbah continued success in his efforts to advance development and improve the welfare of the people of Enugu State.
"We are happy that Mbah keeps the flag flying," the association stated, while urging sustained commitment to the transformational agenda that has defined the administration's first three years in office.
