Police comes down hard on officers' misuse of fire arms

The new Inspector General of Police, IGP Tunji Disu has read a riot act to police officers misuse of fire arms.
Disu said that such acts can no longer be tolerated in the police force and warned his men to beware.
Disu also charged policemen and women to ensure strict compliance to professional ethics and decorum in their engagements with the civilian populace, noting that their primary assignment is to protect law abiding citizens of the country.
Handing down this warning at the passing out parade of 100 trainees from the Anambra Police Command marking the end of the two weeks Combat And Arms Drill Training at Oji River Police Collage in Enugu state, the IGP who was represented by the Commandant of the Collage Deputy Inspector General of Police Bretet Emmanuel Simon charged the news officers to make use of the tactical knowledge impacted to combat crimes and ensure that crime is reduced to it's barest within their areas of coverage.
"The Inspector General of Police Disu Olatunji Rilwan is solidly behind you to ensure all necessary support is given, as you go out there to perform your duty professionally devoid of human right violation and the IGP will not tolerate any form of misuse of firearms or accidental discharge."
Also speaking the Special Adviser to Governor Charles Soludo of Security Air Vice Marshall Ben Chiobi (rtd) who represented the governor, said that the Anambra state government sponsorship of the training program is in furtherance to it's continuous battle against insecurity and all other forms of criminality in Anambra state.
He explained that the support given to the Police Command is being replicated in other sister security organizations in the area adding that Governor Charles Soludo sees security of lives and property as his first line charge in making Anambra state a prosperous and healthy smart city state.
Similarly the Anambra state Police Commissioner Ikioye Orutugu who was represented by the Deputy Police Commissioner in charge of Operations DCP Ibrahim Ezekiel noted that the training is part of the capacity building for officers and men of the Command adding that it is pivotal to morale boosting of the operatives towards fighting crime in the state .
Orutugu thanked Soludo for his continued assistance to the Police promising that the recent training would produce multiplayer effects in the performance of the trainees.
