The new leadership of Nkwubor community in Enugu East local government area of Enugu State has pleaded with the administration of Governor Peter Mbah government to extend infrastructural and social amenities to community located within Enugu metropolis.

This is as the community concluded election of its Town Union leadership, installing Mr. Jideofor Anike as it's President General to oversee its developmental needs.

Anike scored 20 votes as against his rival, Basil Agbo, who gathered four votes in the widely turned out delegate election.

Speaking shortly after the town Union election in the community square, the newly elected President General of the community, Mr. Jideofor Anike pleaded with the Enugu State government to provide the suburb with basic amenities such as roads from Emene, pipe bone water and electricity.

Anike noted that the community had lacked these infrastructure despite its metropolitan status, stating that the Enugu township is surging into the community, compounding it's insufficient infrastructure.

Anike said, "I promise my community, Nkwubor, good leadership. There will be no discrimination. As a caretaker committee chairman, I used the position to sanitize here and that was why they elected me to continue as the substantive President General. We enthroned empowerment in the community. Those who had vertically no means of livelihood regained themselves.

"I made peace as caretaker chairman but now I'm pledging for a lasting peace in the community. What we require from the government is to help give us with access road, water and electricity. The smart Schools in other communities is not here, we need one so that we can be like our neighbouring communities."

One of the community leaders and former President General of Mbulu-Awhule federated community, Chief Josephat Okoh said that the community is in support of the new leadership of Anike because he did well for the community and gave empowerment to the community.

"We are promising government that peace has finally been restored to Nkwubor community, but we need them to do our road. We are the food basket of Enugu East local government area but we don't have roads for evacuating the produce," Okoh said.

The councillor representing the community, Hon. Darlington Ugwu

advised the newly elected President General to be magnanimous in his victory and shelve personal interest and work for the interest of the community.

"I want to appreciate our Governor, Barrister Peter Mbah and our local government council Chairman, Pastor Beloved-Dan Anike. We are Oliver Twist and to whom much is given, much is expected. We are soliciting that the road leading to our community, the Nkwubor road, we are appealing to the Governor, he has done much but we are still pleading that he should do more and construct the road for us and provide us with water," Ugwu pleaded.
