Ex- Enugu Assembly Members Reaffirm Support For Mbah's Re- Election

The second term in office ambition of Enugu state governor, Barr. Peter Mbah, Wednesday received further boost ahead of the 2027 general epection, as former members of the state House of Assembly reaffirms thier total support and endorsed him as thier Concesus Candidate.

Several groups, including Tricycle operators Association in Enugu, had recently endorsed the governor as their sole governorship Candidate ahead of the election.

 While applauding the governor for enthroning good governance, and puting in place numerous verifiable human oriented projects across the entire state, the former lawmakers, urged political leaders and their candidates in the general elections to shun all form of violence during and after the polls.

The emeritus Enugu legislators spoke via a communique they issued at the end of a strategic engagement with them hosted by Rt. Hon. Paul Nnajiofor, the Special Adviser to governor Mbah, on legislative matters.

Operating under the Banner of Association of Former Legislators of Enugu state House of Assembly (AELESHA), the forum expressed satisfaction with what the governor Mbah led administration has done in all sectors of the state economy since assumption of office.

The meeting Tagged: 'Standing Together For Good Governance, A Time Like This: Peter Mbah's Administration As a Case Study' is the Second phase, 3rd, 4th, 5th Sessions 2023-2015.

Speaking with newsmen at the end of the meeting, the Convener, Rt. Hon. Nnajiofor, who was a two time member of the House, said "it is a kind of strategic engagement with members of the Enugu State House of Assembly who served in various sessions of the House.

According to him, "this is the second edition, the first engagement was in April, during which His Excellency engaged with first, second, third members of the house of Assembly who served between 1999 and 2003, then after some moment, he directed me to be meeting with them .

'It is my own idea, they are stakeholders in their own right even though they are no longer serving in the state house of Assembly, with the Hallmark of experience they have, we cannot ignore them, as far as state building is concerned. They have the experience, they have those who are loyal to them.

" As a liaison, the bridge between the executive and legislature, I decided to engage not only with the current members but with former members on August 13th, we did the first one, it was massive at the Enugu State House of Assembly. We engaged with 6th 7th sessions of the the house of Assembly, then they endorsed the governor, everybody said his mind.

"During that emgagement, there was a lot of conversation and I took the report verbatim to the governor and he commended their advises and suggestions. in the area of security, the governor acted on it, in the area of human empowerment and appointment, the governor acted on it.

 "Now I said let me meet with different sessions and today a lot of them came , so I see this as a consultation and conversation" Nnajiofor stated.

However, in the communique, the former lawmakers stated that "after frank and robust deliberations, the Association of Former Legislators of Enugu State House of Assembly AELESHA resolved that it has closely monitored the "development strides and infrastructural upgrades evident in Enugu State since the assumption of office of His Excellency Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah as Governor since 2023 and hereby commend the Governor for achieving much with evidence based project, policies and sound leadership direction

 "We take pride to mention just but a few rehabilitation of abandoned legacy assets such as the International Conference Centre, Hotel Presidential, Nigergas, United Palm Produce Ltd, Enugu Vegetable Oil product Ltd etc 

" Construction of 268 smart schools. PHC,s, International Hospital; establishment of modern Bus Terminals and enhanced transportation; Enugu Air; $20M Foreign Direct Investment Haier factory for ICT etc. Construction of several kilometers of rural roads, gate way and urban roads which has eased movement across the State.

The also commended the governor for the "Improvement of our security architecture, establishment of the Command and Control Center, complemented by CCTV cameras and fully equipped Police Patrol Vehicles and state of the art security gadgets 

They equally apaluded the Mbah led government for the construction of the New Enugu City, We noted with delight the manifestation of the above positive disruptive innovations, driven by the “Tomorrow is Here” mantra of the administration. This has resulted in Enugu State’s advancement in the Human Development Index (HDI) rankings of states in Nigeria since 2023.

 "That the AELESHA in its quest for continuity of the good governance vision and template of the current administration in Enugu State, hereby State that His Excellency Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is our sole governorship candidate for a second term in office as Governor of Enugu State and that we equally adopt all APC candidates from top to bottom and urge Ndi Enugu to vote APC all through in the 2027 general elections

"The Forum has developed a document titled " Gov Mbah,s impressive score card booklet a working document capturing all the 10 000 milestones achievements sector by sector by Peter Mbah within the last 3 years .

We equally seek audience with the Governor to formally present it to the Governor by some delegation of the former members 

"We commend Governor Peter Mbah for the appointment given to some of our members and former members of the Enugu State House of Assembly and request that His Excellency 

do more in this regard for the purposes of human empowerment, development and Citizen,s inclusion in governance .

"At the last count they are about 9 former legislators beginning with Rt Hon Paul Nnajiofor the SPA on Legislative Matters and the latest is Rt Hon Dr Chinedu Nwamba who is now a board member of NIPZA in Anuja facilitated by the Governor. Thank you Sir"

"That the AELESHA commends the positive roles being played by Rt. Hon Paul Nnajiofor, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Enugu State on Legislative Matters on his commitment to ensure cordial relationship between the Executive and relationship,

His regular strategic engagement with both the former and current lawmakers are commendable and result oriented"

The Communique, signed by Nnajiofor added "that we commend the Governor on the recent review of the tax charges and ticketing fares for the tricycle riders as well as the review and relaxation of operational time to 10 pm . These policies are more people oriented 

"We request to be included in the forth coming 2027 APC campaign council in Enugu State as some of our members are willing to serve relying on our leadership experiences and years of service" the document concluded .
