Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has unveiled a compendium documenting more than 10,000 milestones recorded by his administration since assuming office in 2023.
The publication, titled “A Thousand and One Reasons Why Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah Should be Re-elected as Governor of Enugu State,” was presented at the International Conference Centre, Enugu, on Wednesday.
The compendium highlights projects and interventions across critical sectors, including over 1,521 kilometres of constructed and reconstructed roads, more than 7,000 classrooms, 260 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres, Enugu Air, the New Enugu Smart City and the rehabilitation of moribund state assets.
Mbah, represented by Deputy Governor Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, said the publication was consistent with the Citizens Charter, also known as Executive Order 001, which he signed upon assumption of office to promote accountability, transparency and traceability in governance.
He, however, noted that the compendium did not capture all the administration’s achievements up to September 9, 2026, because its compilation had a cut-off date months earlier.
“Our assignment today is not just to unveil the Citizens Charter via the compendium. It is a conversation on the sacrosanct duty and responsibility you gave to us to midwife and preside over your resources,” Mbah said.
He said the administration’s policies were guided by disruptive innovation and large-scale infrastructure development, expressing confidence that Enugu was on a path to becoming a $30 billion economy and a preferred destination for investment, business, tourism and living.
The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, said the administration had also pursued extensive urban renewal, fiscal and institutional reforms, youth and women empowerment, technology, skills acquisition, social protection, tourism and community development.
“Behind every project is a community; behind every policy is a citizen; and behind every statistic is a human being whose life government seeks to improve,” Onyia said.
He stressed that sustainable development required strong institutions and systems capable of sustaining government programmes beyond individual projects.
The Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Ben Nwoye; Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Uchenna Ugwu; and Chairman of the State Council of Traditional Rulers, Igwe Samuel Asadu, commended the administration’s development record.
Asadu called for continued support for the administration, saying, “We have never had it so good. It is not about party. But let us give the job to those who understand the job.”
Chief of Staff to the Governor, Victor Udeh, described the compendium as an evidence-based publication and a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to accountability.
The event attracted political and traditional leaders, religious leaders, captains of industry, professionals, public servants and other stakeholders.
