Ebonyi State indigenes and political stakeholders, resident in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, have thrown their weight behind President Bola Tinubu and Governor Francis Nwifuru, endorsing both leaders for second terms in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was made during a high-profile gathering held in Abuja, on Saturday, where political leaders, cultural groups, youth organizations and members of the Ebonyi community converged to reaffirm their support for the leadership of President Tinubu and Governor Nwifuru.

The event, described by participants as historic, was jointly championed by the Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru, FON Youth Movement, Abuja chapter, in collaboration with the Ebonyi State Community in the nation’s capital. It drew prominent personalities from across the state, including its three senators and six House of Representatives members.

Speaker after speaker, said the decision to endorse the two leaders was informed by what they described as "visible and measurable achievements" recorded under President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Nwifuru's People’s Charter of Needs initiative.

A motion for the endorsement of the two leaders was moved by the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Sen. Onyekachi Nwebonyi (Ebonyi North) and seconded by the member representing Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Ogah.

In unanimously endorsing President Tinubu and Governor Nwifuru for second terms, participants maintained that continuity remained essential for sustaining the developmental strides currently being witnessed in the country and Ebonyi State.

They urged Nigerians to assess the performance of Tinubu's administration through the lens of its economic reforms, noting that difficult policy decisions had begun yielding results.

They stated that the removal of fuel subsidy, unification of the foreign exchange market and ongoing tax reforms have contributed to stabilizing the nation's fiscal outlook despite initial challenges.

They commended the Tinubu administration for investments in critical infrastructure especially road, housing, agriculture, power sector reforms and efforts to tackle insecurity and oil theft.

"President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated uncommon courage by making difficult decisions aimed at securing a prosperous future for Nigerians. His administration is laying the foundation for a nation where innovation thrives, young people are empowered and every region feels the impact of inclusive governance," they stated.

On the state level, the gathering praised Nwifuru for what they described as a "silent revolution" in Ebonyi State through the implementation of the People’s Charter of Needs agenda.

They listed several achievements of the administration, including the establishment of the University of ICT, Oferekpe, and the University of Aeronautics and Aerospace Engineering, recruitment of over 2,000 teachers, construction of model primary and secondary schools, and the award of scholarships to Ebonyi students within and outside the country.

The stakeholders also commended the governor's interventions in the health sector, noting the rehabilitation of general hospitals, procurement of medical equipment, deployment of ambulances and improved welfare packages for healthcare workers.

They further acknowledged various youth and women empowerment programmes, grants, skills acquisition initiatives and employment opportunities introduced by the state government, which they said had positively impacted thousands of residents.

The gathering equally praised his efforts in promoting peace across communities, settling outstanding gratuities and advancing industrial initiatives aimed at enhancing economic self-reliance in the state.

Chairman of the organising committee, Dr. Henry Awuruegu, a federal commissioner in the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), said “history was made in Abuja by Ebonyi people living in the Federal Capital Territory. What took place was not merely a political gathering but a resounding affirmation of progress, resilience and visionary leadership."

According to the President General of Ebonyi Community in FCT, Chief Idenyi Chinedu, the endorsement represents a vote of confidence in the leadership of both President Tinubu and Governor Nwifuru and underscores the desire of Ebonyi indigenes in the diaspora to see ongoing development efforts consolidated beyond 2027.
