2027: Mbah Leads APC Campaign Council, Names Nwobodo, Nnamani, Ugwuani, Others in Campaign Council

The Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled its campaign council ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Governor Peter Mbah as chairman and several prominent political figures appointed to key positions.

The 51-directorate campaign council is expected to coordinate the party’s campaign activities across the state ahead of the elections.

The Deputy Governor, Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai; APC Deputy National Chairman (South); Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Uchenna Ugwu; and the state party chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, will serve as vice chairmen.

The list, jointly signed by Chukwunweike and the party’s state secretary, Hon. Chukwudi Nnadozie, names Chief Charlie Mbah as Director-General of the Campaign Organisation and Dr. Eric Oluedo as Secretary-General.

Deacon Okey Ogbodo, Dr. Dan Shere and Hon. S.K.E. Udeh-Okoye were appointed deputy campaign directors-general for Enugu East, Enugu North and Enugu West senatorial districts, respectively.

Barr. Steve Oruruo will serve as campaign spokesperson and Director of the Public Communication Committee, with Dr. Austin Okolie as co-spokesperson and Dr. Malachy Agbo as secretary.

Two members of the governor’s media team, Mazi Uche Anichukwu and Dan Nwomeh, will head the Directorates of New Media and Strategic Communication, and Mainstream Media, respectively.

Dr. Collins Ogbu and Dr. Reuben Onyishi were named secretaries of the New Media and Strategic Communication Directorate and the Mainstream Media Directorate, respectively.

Barr. Victor Udeh will head the Administration Directorate, while Dr. Ben Nwoye and Arc. Uche Nwatu will serve as director and co-director of the Fundraising Committee.

Former Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ikechukwu Ogalla (rtd.), will chair the Security Directorate, with former Inspector-General of Police, Ogbonna Onovo (rtd.), as secretary.

The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology will lead the Directorate of Government Appointees Coordination (Federal and State), with the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, as secretary.

Former Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eugene Odoh, will head the Inter-Party Affairs Directorate.

At the senatorial district level, Senator Osita Ngwu, Senator Ikeje Asogwa and Senator Kelvin Chukwu were appointed coordinators for Enugu West, Enugu North and Enugu East, respectively.

In a joint statement announcing the appointments, Chukwunweike and Nnadozie said the composition of the council reflected the party’s commitment to broad-based participation in the campaign.

They said the structure was designed to ensure that every community, ward, local government area, professional group, support organisation, youth body, women’s group, elder, party faithful and person of goodwill was adequately represented and meaningfully engaged.

“Appointment into the campaign structure is therefore not merely an honour; it is a call to duty, accountability and measurable contribution,” the statement said.

The party said the campaign council would be inaugurated at the International Conference Centre, Enugu, on Tuesday, October 27, 2026

All members of the council are expected to be seated before 3 p.m.
