ICPC Quiz Gbajabiamila Over Alleged PFIPC Scam

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has questioned the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, as part of its ongoing investigation into the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).

The probe follows allegations by the self-acclaimed Director-General of the agency, Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claimed he paid Gbajabiamila N400 million to secure his appointment.

Adeyemi also alleged that the Chief of Staff demanded 48 per cent of the agency's proposed N27.3 billion take-off grant. According to him, his dealings with Gbajabiamila were facilitated by the late Babatunde Tanimola, whom he said played a key role in the transactions.

Gbajabiamila has strongly denied the allegations and instituted a N15 billion defamation suit against Adeyemi.

In response to the claims and counterclaims, President Bola Tinubu directed the ICPC to investigate the matter and submit its findings within 30 days.

Confirming the development on Monday, Gbajabiamila's counsel, Jiti Ogunye, said his client honoured the ICPC's invitation in compliance with the President's directive.

"In full cooperation with the ICPC acting as directed by the President of Nigeria, I hereby confirm that my client, Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, responded to the invitation of the ICPC and appeared at about 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2026, as part of the ongoing investigation into the activities of the 'PFIPC' fake agency, among others," Ogunye said.

He added that Gbajabiamila gave his testimony, answered questions from investigators, and subsequently returned to his official duties.
