Onoh Dismisses as 'Propaganda' Report of Mass Resignations in Enugu APC
Onoh is saying that the alleged or proposed exit of the so called APC foundation members in Enugu state has not dminished the party under Gov Peter Mbah by any inch
A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Denge (Dr.) Josef Onoh, has dismissed reports alleging mass resignations within the Enugu State chapter of the party as “sensational and misleading,” insisting that no such crisis exists.
Onoh, who is Chairman of the Forum of Former Members of the Enugu State House of Assembly and former South-East spokesman to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, made his position known in a statement issued in Abuja on late Wednesday.
He was reacting to a publication claiming that the Enugu APC had been “rocked by mass resignations” over alleged exclusion and marginalization by Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
Describing the report as “poorly orchestrated propaganda,” Onoh said it was designed to create a false impression of division within the party, adding that it does not reflect the realities on the ground in Enugu State.
According to him, the Mbah administration has continued to record “verifiable and outstanding achievements” across key sectors, including security, infrastructure, revenue generation, and human capital development.
He noted that these achievements have attracted endorsements from critical stakeholders such as the Forum of Former Members of the Enugu State House of Assembly, the Northern community in Enugu, and pro-Tinubu groups like the Asiwaju Renewed Mandate South East (ARMSE).
Onoh argued that such endorsements were based on performance, fairness, and adherence to Enugu’s long-standing principles of rotational governance, rather than the claims of exclusion being circulated in some quarters.
He further described those behind the alleged resignation narrative as “accidental politicians” driven by selfish interests. According to him, their demands for political dominance were not accommodated, prompting what he termed “resignation theatrics” and threats to defect to other parties.
Onoh also accused the individuals of failing to support Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, despite being members of the APC at the time.
He said they “actively worked against” the party’s candidate during a period when open support in the South-East was politically challenging.
He, however, noted that the political landscape has since shifted, with Governor Mbah now fully aligned with President Tinubu’s administration and re-election bid.
Onoh alleged that those who previously distanced themselves from the party are now attempting to benefit from its renewed strength and strategic positioning.
“The current APC in Enugu State does not feel the impact of their exit in any negative way,” he said, adding that their departure would instead strengthen the party by creating room.
