The Nigeria Democratic Congress has pegged its presidential nomination and expression of interest forms at N60m ahead of the 2027 general elections, as it released the timetable for its primary elections.

National Chairman Moses Cleopas announced the schedule on Tuesday in Abuja, saying the sale of forms will run from May 13 to May 18, 2026.

Timetable and Fees

According to the statement, screening for aspirants will precede the sale of forms. Nomination forms will be sold from May 21 to May 23, with completed forms due by May 25. Appeals arising from the screening will be heard on May 25 and 26.

Primaries for various elective offices are scheduled for May 27 and 28, while the presidential primary will hold on May 29 in Abuja.

The party said state House of Assembly aspirants will be screened in their respective states, while National Assembly and presidential aspirants will be screened at the national headquarters in Abuja. All aspirants must sign an undertaking in line with party guidelines.

Fee Structure and Concessions

NDC said its fees remain among the lowest compared to other major parties. The approved rates are:

Position and Total Fee

Presidency - ₦60m (₦20m expression of interest + ₦40m nomination)

Governorship - ₦30m

Senate - ₦8m

House of Representatives - ₦6m

State House of Assembly - ₦2.5m

Female aspirants and persons living with disabilities will pay 50% and 25% of the fees across all categories, respectively.

Voting Method

The party said it will adopt an “open secret ballot” system for its primaries to ensure credibility, fairness, and internal democracy. Under the system, voting is done openly rather than by secret ballot.

Cleopas reaffirmed the party’s commitment to a transparent process capable of producing competent candidates for the 2027 elections.
