Nsukka Group Demands Apology from Gov Mbah Over Ogige Market Demolition
The group accused Peter Mbah Administration of Neglecting Nsukka people
The Nsukka Patriotic Group (NPG) has demanded an unreserved public apology from Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah over the demolition of Ogige Main Market, Nsukka, saying the action has caused severe economic hardship for thousands of families in Enugu North Senatorial Zone.
The demand was contained in a communiqué issued after an emergency meeting of the group on May 1, 2026.
The group described the demolition as “reckless and insensitive” and called on residents of the zone to shun any planned solidarity rally for the governor.
“We call on all true sons and daughters of Enugu North who feel the pain of our people over the demolished Ogige Market to shun any planned solidarity rally for the Governor,” the communiqué stated. “Any participant will be regarded as an accomplice to this abomination against our people.”
The group also dismissed recent endorsements of the governor as illegitimate, arguing that they do not reflect the collective will of Enugu North residents but are driven by a few individuals pursuing personal interests.
Accusing the administration of neglect after three years in office, the NPG said no road has been constructed and no functional project delivered in the senatorial zone.
“Contrary to the perception that our people are timid, we state categorically that after three years in office, this administration has not constructed a single road or delivered any functional project in Enugu North Senatorial Zone,” the group said.
The communiqué further warned individuals and groups allegedly selling out the zone for personal gain, saying they are being monitored and would be exposed “in due course.”
“Enugu North will not be taken for granted,” the group declared.
The Nsukka Patriotic Group signed off the communiqué as a position of the people of Enugu North Senatorial Zone.
