Police Raid Criminal Hideouts, Arrest Suspect, Destroy Drug Bunks in Enugu
The operation also led to the dismantling of makeshift structures, commonly referred to as “bunks,” used for drug peddling and consumption
The Enugu State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on criminal activities with a late-night raid on suspected hideouts in New Artisan, Enugu, leading to the arrest of a 29-year-old suspect and the destruction of illegal drug hubs.
According to a press release issued by the Command’s spokesperson, the operation was carried out around midnight on April 5, 2026, by operatives attached to the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad. Acting on intelligence, the team stormed the area, targeting locations believed to be used for criminal activities.
During the raid, police arrested Francisco Olugba, from whom they recovered quantities of suspected cannabis, bags of clothing believed to have been stolen, eleven SIM cards from different network providers, a pair of scissors, and other items considered exhibits.
The operation also led to the dismantling of makeshift structures, commonly referred to as “bunks,” used for drug peddling and consumption. Authorities say the action disrupted criminal networks operating within the area.
Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the syndicate and to determine the full scope of their operations.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe said that the Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive policing and public safety. He urged residents to remain vigilant, comply with the law, and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
The Command emphasized that sustained intelligence-led operations will continue as part of broader efforts to combat crime across the state.
