Fulani agenda, main cause of Nigeria's restructure problem -- Amucheazi
Every other ethnic group in the country have since tried to pander into the wishes of the Fulani ethic Nation
The President of Igbo Leaders of Thought, ITL, Prof Elochukwu Amucheazi has identified Nigerian's impediment to restructuring of the country into Federation or Confederation as the Fulani ethnic Nation agenda in Nigeria.
Amucheazi said that agenda of the Fulani since their forceful annexation of the northern parts of Nigeria, over 100 years ago, has been to conquer and dominate all part of Nigeria and to dip their Koran in the Atlantic Ocean.
He noted that every other ethnic group in the country have since then tried to pander into the wishes of the Fulani ethic Nation, who he insisted are not interested in any other thing but primitive conquest of all parts of Nigeria.
Amucheazi made the accusation in Enugu when he delivered a paper, "Nigerian: The Need for Restructuring," at a seminar with the theme, 'Restructuring Nigeria ... Inevitable pathway to peaceful coexistence, Equity & Sustainable Development,' organized by The Rebirth Group (TRG).
Other speakers who spoke in the same direction on the need for restructuring of Nigeria, included veteran Professor Obasi Igwe, Evangelist Evans Agbo, Archbishop Emmanuel Chukwuma, Chief Nnia Nwodo, among others.
According to Amucheazi, restructuring is the fundamental and the first step to take to pull the country away from the cliff of self-destruction to which it has pushed itself into.
He stated that the view of the meeting of Nigeria Patriots, recently held in Abuja, was that a new constitution with changes in the structure of the country will redeem Nigeria of its ills.
"We need not go back to our records, but we agree that the 1963 Federal constitution was the best ever drawn for this country."
Addressing unequivocally the inherent problems in the Nigeria polity, Amucheazi said: "We must now come down to the principal task why are we so much consumed about this point. This is of course to accommodate the Fulani conquerors. We aim at creating an integrated country. But let us really ask ourselves whether this is possible and whether this can be achieved by the route we are pursuing this goal.
"How do we accommodate other groups and not only concentrate on the Fulani? We have been with them for over a century, but have they modified their behavior to accommodate others? Ndigbo, Yoruba, Efik, etc, all the 389 ethnic nationalities in the present day Nigeria each has its own life style, and if we are concerned about integration should we not reckon with their own peculiarities?
"Must we not plan for all of them, to accommodate all and not only think of the Fulani? Since the 20th century when Nigeria was created, it appears the only concern of political leaders has been focused on the Fulani and their problems. I think this is part of a plan for the Fulani to extend their conquest. They want to dip the Koran in the sea, they appear to discriminate against the Hausa, the dominant people they conquered.
"Their daughters, we understand hardly marry non-Fulani. In a recent statement by one Mohammed of Kano and one Finri of Plateau State the bitter hatred of others, the unwillingness to accommodate others, the quest of conquest and acquisition of more areas in Nigeria were openly canvassed after over 100 years of the establishment of Nigerian!
"To these two gentlemen, who appeared to be speaking for the Fulani, the prospect of conquest and subjugation is only their concern. Any topic for discussion outside this conquest and subjugation is regarded as diversionary and insincere. In other words, to them accommodation of other ethnic groups, means conquest and subjugation. Nigeria as far as they are concerned, is a Fulani Empire not our so-called Nigeria!
"The points above are clearly understood about Nigeria, and the so-called attempts at integration, the Ruga, livestock settlement, ranching etc are all about the Fulani herdsmen and their strategies to colonize the country not attempts to integrate the country."
