NAF Airstrikes Destroy Terrorist Enclave In Borno, Kill Several Fighters
NAF said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt their logistics chain and stop them from regrouping in the North-East
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it has neutralised several terrorists and destroyed a key insurgent enclave during a precision air operation in Borno State.
The strikes were carried out on July 10 by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI in the Yaganari and Gezuwa general areas, following intelligence reports of renewed terrorist activities in the location.
This was disclosed in a statement on Saturday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
According to Ejodame, the mission was launched after credible intelligence indicated that terrorists were regrouping in the area.
“Intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions were conducted to verify the information before the operation commenced,” he said.
The ISR missions confirmed the presence of terrorist camps, logistics facilities and other strategic infrastructure. NAF fighter jets subsequently carried out a coordinated bombardment that destroyed the identified structures and eliminated several insurgents operating from the enclave.
NAF said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt their logistics chain and stop them from regrouping in the North-East.
“Denying insurgents safe havens remains a critical objective of Operation HADIN KAI as security forces intensify efforts to restore lasting peace in the region,” the statement added.
Reacting to the mission, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, commended the personnel involved for their professionalism and the effective execution of the operation.
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to sustaining aggressive air operations in collaboration with ground troops to eliminate terrorist threats across the region.
Aneke assured Nigerians that the Air Force will continue to support joint military operations aimed at destroying terrorist strongholds, disrupting their movements and preventing them from rebuilding operational capabilities.
Security analysts note that the latest strikes are part of the military’s renewed push to degrade insurgent activity ahead of major operations in the North-East.
