NAS, FRSC Special Marshals Partner on Road Safety Sensitisation in Enugu
State Coordinator of the Special Marshals, Tony Orji, said road safety should not be left to FRSC staff alone. He urged other groups and associations to emulate NAS
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Enugu Sector Command, has commended the Enugu Chapter of the National Association of Seadogs (NAS) and its Houston, Texas sister chapter for supporting road safety campaigns in the state.
The commendation came during a one-day public enlightenment programme held at the weekend in Enugu under the theme _“Arrive Safely, Safety First.”_ The event, organised in partnership with FRSC Special Marshals, targeted commercial drivers and other road users at three major motor parks in New Market: Onitsha-South, Eastern Mass Transport, and Enugu Transport Corporation.
State Coordinator of the Special Marshals, Tony Orji, said road safety should not be left to FRSC staff alone. He urged other groups and associations to emulate NAS by contributing to efforts to safeguard lives on the roads.
“This combined enlightenment exercise today is not for drivers only; it is for all road users. Campaigning for road safety is not only for Regular Marshals and Special Marshals,” Orji said.
He also acknowledged NAS’s radio sensitisation during the 2025 ember months safety campaign, adding that the corps looked forward to a more robust partnership going forward.
Cap’n of the Enugu Chapter of NAS, Oseloka Egbuchiem, said the group remained committed to road safety advocacy.
“We at NAS in Enugu will never back out of the campaign of enlightenment on safety on our roads. We cherish the partnership with FRSC and the Special Marshals and will keep it as robust as the situation demands,” Egbuchiem said.
Represented by Harold Okonkwo, he explained that the campaign focused on engaging commercial drivers directly because motor parks offered access to a large number of drivers and transporters at once.
Egbuchiem added that NAS would join FRSC again in September for the ember months safety campaign and would build on the success of its radio outreach with additional activities.
The programme closed out NAS’s 2025/26 safety campaign in Enugu.
